Thought

Meeting society’s expectations only means that you’ve been living someone else’s life the entire time… I thinkk..

Social media is going to make it even more difficult to make long-term investments in cities.

Following

So… why am I following Lovequotesrus again? These blog posts and photos are brainwashing me into thinking that I’m in love or need it. Holy crap.

Awesome Possum

Before Tumblr, there were ‘tumblelogs’: experimental, interesting HTML pages where you didn’t have well-structured posts. You could just throw a link up, or a moving GIF, or a photo, or anything you’d find, and you’d collect those things on one long page. So when we released our platform, we took it straight to the tumblelogging community and said, ‘Hey, look, we built a real tool to make all the neat stuff you guys are doing available to more people.’ They were thrilled. And because they really understood what Tumblr was about, they set a great example for new users. That helped us get a lot of early traction.

Twitter

When I signed up for Twitter, I had no clue what I would be getting myself into.  Initially, I barely used the microblogging service, but now I find myself getting antsy when I don’t check it daily to at least scan over my newsfeed.  It has completely changed the structure of my social circle because I feel connected with people on Twitter.  If I’m not around my peers, or I’m alone somewhere, Twitter becomes the go-to place to immerse myself socially.  Each @reply is as intimate as it gets because you know an individual has taken the time to personally write to you.  I know that this sounds bazaar, but it is what it is.
